The Obligatory Holiday Post

by Daniel on December 25, 2008 · 0 comments

Merry Holidays and Happy Christmas and all that. I considered writing a really heartfelt message of peace, love and happyness (which is how Will Smith spells it, and if it’s good enough for the Fresh Prince, it’s good enough for me). I considered a message like that, but then I figured… nah. Messages like that [...]

When is a deal a great deal? When you trample a Walmart employee to death to get it. Last year, I wrote a short piece called Black Friday: More Insane Than Ever. My chief complaints were that stores were going to be opening at 4am and that Lowe’s had their Christmas displays up in early [...]

1. For about a month or so leading up to the election, I had the graphic you see to the left in the sidebar of this site. Of course, I’m not so foolish as to believe that the tens of visitors I get on a daily basis would be influenced by it enough to change [...]

There’s a principle in poker that says it is best to determine what your opponent wants you to do, then disappoint him. I spend a lot of time online. I wake up daily between seven and eight, and I’m usually at sitting on the couch with my MacBook Pro within 30 minutes. During the day, I alternate between work and playing with Winter (who is super interesting these days, having hit the 3 year old mark). In [...]

Papa Johns Yet Again

by Daniel on July 11, 2008 · 0 comments

It’s been a while since I last updated Modest Opinions, but I’ve been swamped with getting The Big Book of Spam ready for publication (which is a lot more complicated when you throw in the website revamp that it requires and the changes to my core domain). Modest Opinions just isn’t very high-priority for me [...]

The Final FedEx Update

by Daniel on January 17, 2008 · 0 comments

My package arrived today – January 16th. It took FedEx, one of the leaders of the shipping industry, three weeks to get a package from Dallas to Albuquerque. Pathetic. Simply pathetic.

Ordered a pizza earlier tonight. Thought this was interesting – the Specials list at the bottom of the page after logging in: Hm. I’m thinking about ordering a large one-topping pizza. I wonder how much that would cost. I can’t help but wonder how many people choose to pay the extra buck. papa johns, pizza, [...]
