Geek Dads Six

geek-dad.pngI have no idea who that guy in the header graphic over at geekdadsathome.com is supposed to be.

Our sixth episode, which Scott titled “Birthdays and AdBlockers” has been posted for your listening pleasure over at the Geek Dads @ Home site.

As usual, our free-form show format takes us in all sorts of directions (maybe one of these days we’ll start doing show prep, but I wouldn’t count on it—Sam’s a slacker, and Joe’s always drunk. Okay, not really). We started off with a brief discussion of birthdays, as we recorded the show on Scott’s birthday! I was reminded of Patton Oswalt’s take on how many birthdays you should be able to celebrate, which Scott dug up on YouTube and put into the show notes (NSFW).

We got into more geeky stuff with a discussion about Windows 7 Beta and the differences between Mouse People and Keyboard People. Sam’s a keyboard warrior while I prefer the mouse for probably 80% of what I do with the computer.

Joe regaled us with tales from the Atlanta Aquarium, which I think we all agree, is definitely worth spending some time at if you’re ever in Atlanta. The show notes feature a video Joe took while there.

Lastly, we can’t have a show without mentioning Twitter, so we covered Sam’s brush with identity theft. Some rotten spammer created a fake Sam Twitter account, _SamHarrelson, and tried to sell an eBook to his followers. Marketers, as Sam often says, ruin everything.

Folks, if you someone follows you with an underscore before or after their name, it’s a scammer. Welcome to Twitter.

This episode of Geek Dads @ Home was brought to you by the number six.
